The PANERAI with a twist

Another amazingly fun week wearing a watch from Beverly Hills Watch. This week I’ve been wearing a brand I’m not as knowledgeable about, PANERAI. The PANERAI Luminor 1950 chronograph is the model that I’m going to give my 2 cents on today. Beverly Hills watch put a little twist on the original piece they had me wearing, I will discuss that also.

So, just as a reminder, I’m not a horologist. I’m just a guy who loves watches and my opinions are meant to help educate you about my own personal experiences trying new watches, brands, etc.

Beverly Hills Watch has an unreal previously enjoyed watch program and the watches I’m wearing are courtesy of them. Here is the direct link to buy this watch.

Lets get to it! First impression of the watch… I thought it looked huge. Probably was going to be to big for my wrist. I was also concerned with the crown cover- that it would dig into my hand. Before I left with the watch in the above picture I tried on the PANERAI with the regular rubber strap that comes with the watch. If you notice, the watch I’m wearing doesn’t have a PANERAI strap. The strap is from Rubber B. The biggest difference between the regular strap and the Rubber B strap is it  utilizes “Blocked Integration” engineering for a flawless, motionless flush mount to the Panerai case. What does this mean? It means this large faced watch sits more comfortably on my wrist. It doesn’t wobble back and forth and I barely notice the weight of the watch. This is a fairly big difference from the standard strap. Also pretty dope, the colour on the strap matches the face.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of the watch itself. It was super subtle and understated but packed a killer punch. The size, 45mm, wasn’t bothering me at all. The crown protector seemed to be raised a bit off the skin and therefore doesn’t dig into my hand at all. The one thing I noticed and was probably the most surprised by, is this setup is very comfortable. If you know anything about how I wear and buy clothes, it always about fabrics, fit, and comfort. I’m the same way with watches. If they are uncomfortable, they aren’t for me.

This watch has been so easy and enjoyable to wear. PANERAI has some great watches in general. They have been around since 1860. One of the watches still used today was created as a diving watch for the US Navy in the second world war, 1936.

I think it’s time I add a PANERIA to my collection!
