This has been a very good week! Let me tell you about it! Every time I get the opportunity to drive down to Beverly Hills and walk into Beverly Hills Watch is a good day. But last week was even better than most. Armen met me early in the day and told me he had a watch he knew I would be super excited to test out. We are always excited about picking new watches but I could tell this was different.
It’s not a secret, I’m a huge Audemars Piguet fan. I personally have 2 in my collection and absolute love wearing them both. Arman hooked me up with an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “Panda”. Man… I loved this watch at first sight!
One of the things I absolutely love about AP is their bands. Not only do they look amazing (they literally glisten in the light), they are amazingly comfortable. They seem to move better on the wrist. Quick comparison; I have a Rolex Submariner and the band is not very comfortable. That’s my opinion and if you ask a whack of people a lot would disagree with me. But a direct comparison of these two bands, I’m going AP every time.
Very quickly there are three models of the Royal Oak. The Royal Oak, The Royal Oak Offshore, and the Royal Oak Concept. All “Concepts models” are tourbillon, which kind of put them in a different league, so we are just going to look at the Royal Oak and the Royal Oak Offshore.
Here is my Royal Oak that I purchased from Beverly Hills Watch and Previously Enjoyed, I purchased the watch for my 5 year sobriety anniversary as a gift to myself. I truly cherish it.
The case size is 41mm, the case thickness is 9.8mm and it’s water resistant to 50 meters. Let’s compare that to the Royal Oak Offshore. The Royal Oak Offshore is 42mm case size and 14.2mm case thickness. Waters resistant up to 100 meters. So the watch really isn’t much bigger in diameter, its just stand a bit higher on the the wrist then a Royal Oak. It has more substance and I would say it’s less about blending in and more about making a statement than the Royal Oak model. But I need to stress this; I wore this watch a LOT over the past week and it’s an extremely comfortable timepiece. I absolutely love the size and would say this is one of the nicest Royal Oak Offshore I’ve had the pleasure of wearing.
Previously Enjoyed has a ton of Audemars Piguet at the moment but this “Panda” has to be one of the best. It is super sexy with the white face, contrasted by black dials and arms. The added pops of red are just stunning.
