The IWC “Portugieser Annual Calendar” is a really special timepiece that I’ve been checking out from Previously Enjoyed Watch. I’ve always loved the simplicity of the IWC brand and their watches, but this watch really adds something special. The annual calendar feature is such a unique complication and takes this watch to the next level. Let me tell you all about it and what I thought about wearing this IWC.
The watch available at Previously Enjoyed Watches
- Brand – IWC

- The Annual Calendar complication will accurately account for odd & even numbers of days in each month with the exception of the 29th day of February in a leap year. The date will require a manual adjustment once every year, at the end of February.
- 169 hour power reserve (7 days)
- Case Back – Transparent
- Dial Color – Blue
This watch is really friggin’ cool! There are 2 things that really stand out; the 7 day reserve (WOW), and the annual calendar! If you only plan to own 1 watch… I may have just found it. With a 7 day reserve, this watch can keep its power for over a week without any winding. I personally hate winding my timepieces and this feature is a HUGE plus! Then the annual calendar which accurately accounts for odd and even numbers of days in each month. That would mean you only need to set your watch 1 time a year (February). This is one smart watch (pardon the pun)!
The other thing I noticed from the onset of trying it on is something thats kind of difficult to explain… but I’m going to try. The glass on the case is so close to the dials. With most watches you can see the depth of the watch behind the glass. This watch almost looks like its popping out at you. It really is a striking compliment to a beautiful watch. The back casing is the same. Stunning view of the working of this complicated IWC.
Although this watch is a little large at 44mm, it sits nicely on my wrist (I don’t have large wrists). Its not top heavy and is balanced nicely. If you have small wrists, it may be too big. But for medium/large – its great. It was raining in Los Angeles yesterday (first time in 7 months, lol), it fit nicely under my rain jacket and wasn’t cumbersome in the slightest. Previously Enjoyed Watches really found a great watch here – no signs of wear and the strap looks like new. If your in the market for a classic IWC with something a little special – I highly suggest you check out this piece.
