TUDOR BLACK BAY FIFTY-EIGHT 39MM BLUE DIAL – Reviewed

Rolex’s sister brand, Tudor has really created its own identity over the years. They have carved out a place for themselves in the watch market and make some great watches. I’ll be tested out a Tudor ‘Black Bay’ Fifty-Eight from Previously Enjoyed and I’m looking forward to sharing the details with you. Lets get to it…

Tudor produced a ‘Submariner’ from 1954-1995. Its was a great model that became a more affordable version of the Rolex Submariner. It was in 2012 that Tudor produced the ‘Black Bay’ in place of its predecessor. According to the brand, the name Black Bay stems from “a fictitious hidden cove, which holds secrets can only be discovered over time, step by step”. The ‘Black Bay’ became a conglomerate of the 45 year history of the ‘Submariner’. It embodied all the important elements of the ‘Submariner’ and developed into its new and improved model.

It was in 2020 that Tudor released the Black Bay Fifty-Eight with a navy-blue dial and navy-blue bezel (Ref. 79030B). The model has received a lot of positive feedback and I can agree it really is a special timepiece.

I love a diver style watch. I find them sporty and stylish. My preference has always been a one color style and I think this ‘Black Bay’ Fifty-Eight did a wonderful job with this navy-blue dial and navy-blue bezel. The alcantara band is such a great addition also. Its soft, comfortable and looks amazing in blue!

I believe so many people are looking towards smaller faced watches. Rolex changes their Submariners from 40mm to 41mm. Its all a personal preference but not a switch I would have wanted to see. The Tudor is 39mm and so nice on the wrist. Just that little bit smaller and it makes the watch sit even nicer on. I really enjoyed the comfort and size of this watch.

Also, something else to get excited about- a 70 hour power reserve! There is some amazing value in this timepiece from Previously Enjoyed.
