Hublot Big Bang 44mm Rose Gold and Ceramic Reviewed

The Big Bang is the cornerstone model of the Hublot brand. Previously Enjoyed has a stunning Hublot Big Bang 44mm Rose Gold and ceramic watch that just came to the boutique. I had the honour of testing it out for a couple days last week and this watch packs a serious punch! Lets look at the details and see if this watch may be a good fit for you.

Lets review Hublot’s history before we get into it. Hublot began in the early 1980s. The term ‘hublot’ means ‘porthole’ in French, which, of course is the aesthetic infuse behind the brands most popular case design. Jean-Claude Biver became CEO of Hublot after the brand had been struggling in 2004. Mr Biver really launched Hublot back onto people radar and brought the Hublot brand back to popularity. The famous marketing slogan for Hublot is “the art of fusion”. It was meant to express the fusion of materials, textures, colours, and aesthetics. Hublot can be credited as being the pioneer of incorporating a slew of “non-luxury” materials and components into high-end watches.

I wanted to share my personal first hand experience with Hublot. In the early 2010s, I was in love with the Hublot Big Bang. At the time, shopping for watches on eBay, for crazy good prices was the thing to do. I found the Hublot Big Bang 44mm ‘Chocolate’ for almost 60% below retail (I know… crazy!).I’ve owned this watch for close to 10 years and i LOVE it! It’s large at 44mm, but the rubber band is amazing! It makes wearing this watch one of my all time favourites. It’s comfortable, cool, and a watch I would never get rid of in my collection.

Let’s chat a little bit more about the Hublot rubber band. It was in 1980 when Hublot first showcased a luxury watch at Baselworld with a rubber strap. It wasn’t an instant hit, but a bold move from a brand that was changing the industry. Hublot bands are soft, comfortable and truly a ‘luxury rubber’.
